The Evansville IceMen, proud affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League, have announced their pre-season schedule as the franchise makes its formal debut as a member of the ECHL in 2012-13.
On this date, the IceMen have unveiled a two-game pre-season slate in the form of a two-games in two nights series with both early autumn outings on the road at Fort Wayne against their principal in-state archrivals, the Komets. Evansville’s ECHL premiere will transpire on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6TH and SUNDAY OCTOBER 7TH at Memorial Coliseum. Game times have been listed for 6:30 pm CDT October 6th and 4:00 pm CDT for the Sunday encore affair, October 7th.
The two fierce and feisty Indiana archenemies locked horns 13-times during the 2011-12 campaign when both clubs were members of the CHL. From the IceMen perspective, the series resulted in an “even-steven” outcome of 13(6-6-1) with Evansville prevailing in the latter three collisions; 3(3-0-0), and in 4 of the last 5-confrontations; 5(4-1-0). The men of Evansville ice hockey renown extracted OTSO successes from the 2012 CHL kingpins, also in a weekend two-game series sweep in Fort Wayne back on March 9th and 10th by triumphant results of 5-4 and 4-3 respectively. Head Coach Rich Kromm’s kinetic contingent attained a winning record in 6-dates at Fort Wayne at 6(3-2-1).
In 2012-13, the IceMen and the Komets will rekindle rancor a total of 11-times in ECHL regular season competition including Evansville’s grand opening night and official ECHL coming-out-party SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13TH AT 7:00 PM AT THE FORD CENTER.
It’s the second consecutive year in which the IceMen aggregation nation will compete in pre-season action exclusively in foreign territory. Last campaign, in a harbinger of lofty accomplishments to come, the hometown team was both faultless and flawless in posting a perfect personified mark of 2(2-0-0), being both undefeated and unscored upon.
“The Kromminator” contingent extracted shutout victory verdicts of 6-0, October 15, 2011 in the Quad Cities against the host Mallards before throttling the Blaze in Bloomington less than 24-hours later, 2-0 on Sunday, October 16, 2011.

The IceMen are expected to begin the process of team player signings, perhaps, as early as the latter part of this week and the first part of next week, the week of July 16th.
