Aaron Gens Leads IceMen Comeback as They Defeat Elmira in OT

IceMen Come From Behind to Beat Elmira 4-3 in OT. 

 

1/12/13 - (Elmira, NY)- Aaron Gens  would lead the IceMen to their first road win of the new year. Gens would lead the game in scoring with a 4- point effort 4(1-3) The IceMen come away with a 4 game unbeaten streak. With the victory tonight the IceMen climb into sole possession of 4th place the North Division of the Eastern Conference.  The IceMen defeat the Elmira Jackels 4-3 in OT.

 

Elmira’s Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel would open the scoring for the Jackels at the 8:41 mark of the first stanza.  The IceMen would lead Elmira in SOG at 15-11. 

 

Aaron Gens would open the scoring for the IceMen at 1:05 of the second period after he took a pass from Todd Robinson.  Gens goal would be the First of his Pro Career. Josh Beaulieu would be credited with the second assist.  Just 2:26 later, Sebastian Wannstrom would give the IceMen their first lead of the night off a pass from Aaron Gens.  The lead would be short lived as Elmira’s Louie Caporusso would tie the game at 2-2 at the 5:19 mark of the second period.  Elmira’s Jean Bourbeau would give the Jackels their final lead of the game at the 9:44 mark of the Second.  SOG would be even at 11 apiece.

 

The IceMen offense then came alive to score the tying goal just 3:05 into the third period. IceMen Captain Todd Robinson would score his second goal of the season off a pass from Kevin Baker with Aaron Gens getting the second assist.  IceMen Goaltender Paul Karpowich would fend off 12 Elmira shots to force a decisive OT period.

 

IceMen leading scorer Josh Beaulieu would score the game winning goal just 0:38 into overtime after Aaron Gens forced a turnover and was able to get the pass off to Beaulieu. Beaulieu would get a One-timer off from the top of slot that would give the IceMen the win and their first Overtime win of the season.  The IceMen are now 1-1-3 when the game extends beyond regulation.

 

The IceMen Penalty Kill Unit would be stellar on night, killing off the only Jackels Power Play of the night.
