IceMen Freeze the Walleye, As Moon and Robinson take Command

IceMen Win A Thriller on the Road. 

 

11/3/2012 - (Toledo, OH)-Todd Robinson and Nathan Moon  would lead the IceMen to their first road win of the season. The duo combined for 2 goals and 2 assists a piece.  The IceMen won their second victory.  The Evansville IceMen defeated the Toledo Walleye 4-1 at the Huntington Center on Saturday night.

 

Toledo and Evansville skated to a scoreless first period tie. The IceMen would out shoot the Walleye 11-9 as Rookie net minder Rob Madore would fend off nine shots on the IceMen goal and Toledo goaltender Kent Simpson stopped all 11 shots that he faced.

 

Byron Froese would open the scoring at 3:13 of the second period after he took a pass from Terry Broadhurst and lifted a shot over the leg of IceMen goaltender Rob MadoreWillie Coetzee picked up the second assist on Toledo’s only goal of the night.

 

The IceMen offense then came alive to score two unanswered second period goals to take a 2-1 lead. Nathan Moon’s goal came at the 7:31 mark and Todd Robinson would score the game winning goal at 14:08 of the second period.

 

Toledo outshot Evansville in the second period, 15-11, with a two-period shot total of 24.

 

Matt Gens extended the IceMen’s lead to 3-1 after he picked up a goal at 11:11 of the final period. Toledo would pull their goalie at the 3:00 mark to add the extra attacker.  The IceMen Defense would prove to be too much as the IceMen would add an empty net goal at 18:43 to lift them to a 4-1 win.

 

The IceMen Penalty Kill Unit would be perfect on night holding the Walleyes to 0 for 5 on the power play.

 

The IceMen’s next Game is Nov. 6th at the Ford Center. This is the IceMen’s 2nd Annual Education Day.  Game time is 9:45 CDT.
